Survey Overview

UNCOVERed is a JWST Cycle 5 public survey that will obtain deep MIRI multiband imaging from 5-18μm of the Frontier Field Abell 2744, building on existing imaging from Cycle 1 Treasury Program UNCOVER and Cycle 2 Program MegaScience.

With the strong lensing boost, wide area, and deep and dense photometric coverage (7 bands of MIRI imaging from this program, augmented by 20 bands of NIRCam and HST UV coverage), and rich ancillary information (JWST spectroscopy, ALMA dust continuum, MUSE, and Chandra Xray observations), UNCOVERed will be uniquely positioned to improve our understanding of dust obscuration in distant galaxies in black holes.

UNCOVERed will: (1) probe the mass-dependent impact of AGN feedback, by disentangling dust-obscured AGN from MIR star-formation signatures, and (2) improve our understanding of stellar populations and stellar masses at z>4. UNCOVERed will cement the legacy of A2744 as the community deep public Frontier Field, by, e.g., providing new information about nearby Brown Dwarfs, the nature of dusty quiescent galaxies, and potentially discovering LRDs at z>10.
