Survey Overview

MindTheGaps of UNCOVER is a HST Cycle 32 public survey that will obtain ultradeep HST UV imaging (WFC3/UVIS F336W) in the Frontier Field Abell 2744, building on existing ultradeep JWST imaging from Cycle 1 Treasury Program UNCOVER and Cycle 2 Program MegaScience, as well as JWST spectroscopy, ALMA dust continuum, MUSE, and Chandra Xray observations.

Thanks to the strong lensing boost over a wide area in Abell 2744, MindTheGaps of UNCOVER will address high-profile reionization questions that can only be answered with HST UV imaging: measuring Lyman continuum and ionizing photon escape fractions at z=3-4 analogs of reionization galaxies to determine the role of galaxies in reionization. MindTheGaps will also improve constraints on the UV luminosity function, star formation in quiescent galaxies, the metallicity of globular clusters within A2744, and the origin of the UV upturn in foreground cluster galaxies.
